In like flint...finally

The holidays are always a whirlwind affair. But for my family this year, it was much more so with the move into our new home. Finally, as of yesterday, it's all done. All the stuff is moved (and currently stuffed into the garage), the transactions completed, the lawyers and agents paid. Now the three of us are busy cleaning, unpacking and organizing as best as we can, while still taking time to enjoy the holidays.

And I am totally bagged! Moving all this stuff around has been quite the exercise in more ways than one. I think that every muscle in my body is aching and tight - I don't think I ever felt like this after any amount of training or racing! Hips, back, legs, knees, ankles and feet have it the worst. But you know, it feels good. It's like confirmation that you've done a lot of good, hard work.

With lots more work to come. The house is sound, but the previous owners were less than sufficient when it came to the upkeep of the home. Every wall needs to be patched, painted. All trim needs to be fixed up and painted. All ceilings need to be painted. And everything needs to be cleaned. But it's great to see things "light up" when you put some elbow grease into it and polish up what's there. Can't wait to finish all the work - this place will be amazing!

With the critical parts of the move now complete, the pressure is way off now. Rather than think of what's left to move, or what needs to be done with the old house, we've got just one home to deal with now. That's a great relief for us all, and we can now return to an anchored setting.

That's the best Christmas gift ever.
